BIFM members are invited to join us to hear from Angus Darroch-Warren, Director of Consultancy for the Linx International Group, who will provide insight into two seemingly disparate subjects, that, when considered together, are essential ingredients for a Facilities Risk Management Strategy.
Firstly, how do you go about implementing a security framework that is fit for purpose?
The buildings, installations and facilities to which FM is relevant represent important company assets. According to a study carried out by the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), these assets are the source of 10 to 19 per cent of company expenditure and represent 25 to 50 per cent of company assets. Therefore FM processes influence company figures and are formidably significant within the framework of risk management.
Secondly, what are the considerations for a legally compliant and effective work place investigation?
The courts have been clear – when it comes to a report of employee wrongdoing, employers are obliged to conduct a fair workplace investigation. Failing to investigate or getting your investigation wrong could have a catastrophic effect on your organization. Not only could your organization risk a hefty financial penalty but you could also risk having to reinstate a ‘bad apple’ straight back into your workplace. Equally as important to the investigation is the correct policy and consistently applied procedure so the process will stand up to any potential external scrutiny.
