New Initiative between SSAIB and CTSP
Exciting announcement! We’re pleased to announce that a joint initiative between the Register of Certified Technical Security Professionals (CTSP) and the Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB) will offer Fire Emergency and Security Systems (FESS) Apprentices the opportunity to join the CTSP register, free of charge for the first year.
CTSP recognises competence, quality, and qualifications in the technical security industry, becoming the go-to place for consumers, employers, and contractors to validate the professional competences of those featuring on the register. Registering will unlock a whole range of benefits for newly qualified apprentices, including discounted training and access to clients in need of services.
This professional register, which is supported by Tavcom Training, the leading international provider of technical security training courses; is available for all individuals operating within the Security Systems Industry with a ‘technical’ focus, including installers, technicians, engineers, system designers, auditors & consultants.
This initiative builds on the growing success of the FESS apprenticeship by recognising the professional technician status of those completing the scheme. The specialist apprenticeship continues to play an essential part in addressing the growing skills gap in the FESS sector.

Trevor Jenks, SSAIB National Training Manager, said: “SSAIB is delighted to continue working with CTSP with this exciting new initiative, which gives professional recognition to the newly qualified FESS Technicians at the start of their professional career. SSAIB continues to take a leading role in the setting and raising of technical standards as the whole FESS sector upskills on its Route to Competence and professional recognition.”
Kevin Matthew, Director of Tavcom Training and CTSP Registrar, said: “We are proud to be part of this key initiative alongside SSAIB, which will offer a valuable endorsement to newly trained technicians and engineers, opening further opportunities for training and employment. Their technical skills are invaluable to the delivery of high-quality services across the sector, and we are pleased to offer free registration to the CTSP, which recognises their professional status within fire and security.”
