Fire Risk Assessment and Legislation – BTEC Level 3 Certificate
Course Overview
This one day course is ideally suited to any responsible person in charge of a building – including landlords and letting agents – and all members of the security systems industry who wish to have a better understanding and working knowledge of current legislation. There are no prerequisites. All are welcome.

- Lighting options available and legal emergency lighting limits
- The role of the responsible person and Fire officer
- Working within the disability discrimination act
- Procedures for carrying out in-house risk assessment
- Fire detection and min/max sound levels
- Associated systems and equipment – extinguishers, sprinklers and emergency lighting
- Carrying out and documenting the weekly test
- Regulations regarding regular maintenance and keeping correct documents
- Accessing the adequacy of existing systems based on premises use
- Acceptable sound levels within a building
- Management of false alarms
- What constitutes acceptable detection
- The fire brigade position on unwanted alarms
