There are no prerequisites. All are welcome.

  • An understanding of fire classifications
  • What to look for when selecting a contractor
  • The Reform Order: 2005 and it’s implications
  • Learn to carry out an internal fire risk assessment and fire management plan
  • Differences between L and P systems and the levels of protection applied to each
  • When emergency lighting should be installed
  • Lighting options available and legal emergency lighting limits
  • The role of the responsible person and Fire officer
  • Working within the disability discrimination act
  • Procedures for carrying out in-house risk assessment
  • Fire detection and min/max sound levels
  • Associated systems and equipment – extinguishers, sprinklers and emergency lighting
  • Carrying out and documenting the weekly test
  • Regulations regarding regular maintenance and keeping correct documents
  • Accessing the adequacy of existing systems based on premises use
  • Acceptable sound levels within a building
  • Management of false alarms
  • What constitutes acceptable detection
  • The fire brigade position on unwanted alarms
