| | February 2010: New look Training Centre unveiled Delegates attending Tavcom courses are enjoying some great new improvements and additions to our Training Centre. The reception/lounge area has now been doubled in size, allowing students' lunch and refreshment breaks to be even more comfortable and enjoyable. Although one small classroom was sacrificed to allow this new design, the construction of a brand new, purpose-built lecture room and workshop at the opposite end of the main building has resulted in an overall increase in the area devoted to training. | | January 2010: For he's a jolly good Fellow (of the IET) The Tavcom Training team is delighted to report that our Managing Director, Mike Tennent, has been accepted as a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). | June 2009: Tavcom and IET in new partnership to boost industry professionalismAfter a Memorandum of Understanding was signed this week (15 June) by IET Chief Executive, Nigel Fine, and Tavcom Managing Director, Mike Tennent, trainees on a range of Tavcom courses now have direct access to the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) membership and professional qualifications. Those studying for our BTEC Diplomas will now become IET members and have access to professional qualifications such as Engineering Technician and ICT Technician. Nigel Fine, IET Chief Executive said, "The IET and Tavcom each have similar aims and objectives which support engineers and technicians in their careers. This collaboration is a key part of our strategy to boost standards worldwide and promote professional qualifications, which are vital in today's increasingly global job market. Tavcom's Managing Director, Mike Tennent, firmly believes that professional registration with an internationally recognised institution represents the pinnacle of personal achievement for technicians and engineers working in the electronic security systems arena. "All of us at Tavcom Training are thrilled to be working in collaboration with the IET" said Mike. "We can immediately provide our delegates with membership of this highly respected Institution and, ultimately, we will be able to offer them the opportunity to apply for EngTech registration - as a direct result of following and completing our BTEC Diploma training pathway. Many Tavcom trainees will be interested in the new ICTTech qualification, which was launched in January, and is currently only awarded by the IET. It is a competence-based professional qualification which assesses not only technical skills, but also those interpersonal and professional skills that are important in career development. | | June 2009: Tavcom Educational Day proves popularOver 40 guests attended our special Educational Day on June 4th.
