The majority of our training courses deal with the selection, installation, operation and management of CCTV (including Control Rooms), Network IP, Access Control, Intruder Alarm, Fire Alarm and all other types of electronic security systems. We also teach many associated subjects including security legislation, sales, system planning and project management.

What type of students do you train?

In fact, we teach anybody with a legitimate interest in security systems!

What kind of organisations do you work with?
Tavcom’s many clients include Central Governments, Local Governments, Police and Armed Forces, Prison Services and all forms of commercial and industrial organisations from sole traders to multinational corporations.

How long are the courses?
Our scheduled courses are between one and five days in length.

How much do they cost?
Scheduled course fees vary according to duration, level and your choice of certification (Tavcom Certificate or BTEC Award). They range from a minimum of £150 + VAT to a maximum of £1385 + VAT.

What is included in the price?
Professional tuition and assessment, a comprehensive course manual, the use of fully equipped training rooms and electronic workshops, writing materials, daily lunch and morning and afternoon refreshments.

Where is your Training Centre?
In Bishops Waltham in Hampshire, nestled between Winchester, Portsmouth and Southampton. The village enjoys very good road, train and air connections and the Training Centre is close to local amenities and accommodation.

The surrounding area (including the Solent and New Forest) is some of the UK’s most scenic so why not add a day or two to your training days and enjoy a well-deserved break?

Is the tuition hands-on, classroom based or both?
In most cases we operate a system of lectures followed immediately by ‘hands-on’ practical training sessions. This provides our students with an effective and very enjoyable learning experience.

Do I get a certificate?
All students who successfully complete any Tavcom course receive a Tavcom Certificate that is widely recognised throughout the UK and in security industries worldwide. Those who choose BTEC assessment and certification receive an internationally recognised BTEC Award at Intermediate, Advanced or Professional level. A fee is payable for the BTEC option.

How do you select your tutors?
Very carefully! Our tutors must satisfy a number of strict criteria. They must have unsurpassed knowledge of their specialised subject(s) and possess recent and/or ongoing ‘real world’ experience in the security industry. In addition they must have first-class training skills which we maintain with regular ‘Train the Trainer’sessions.

I am in the Armed Forces. Are your courses covered by the CTP scheme?
Yes, several of our courses are specifically tailored for those who are retraining in preparation for a new career after leaving the Armed Forces. These courses are covered by the Career Transition Partnership provisions. Contact us for full details.

Can you help me find accommodation during the course?
We offer a booking service for accommodation at the local Marwell Hotel where delegates enjoy preferential rates. We can also provide you with a comprehensive list of local hotels and comfortable Bed and Breakfast establishments that you can contact directly for prices and availability.

Can you come to my workplace to train me?
Possibly! If your organisation has a group of delegates to train, ‘in-company’ courses can be a very cost-effective option. We conduct many of these ‘in-house’ courses every year. We ensure that all the equipment necessary for hands-on tuition is brought to your chosen venue.

My company is not in the UK. Can you train overseas?
Yes, we regularly present training courses in other parts of the world – most recently in North America, the Middle East and Africa. Contact us for details.

Do you offer correspondence courses?
We currently offer four Distance Learning or ‘correspondence’ courses that require between thirty two and seventy five hours of study. A key feature of these courses is email support from your own personal tutor!
